Learning, understanding and using Mathematics vocabulary is the other teaching focus of our ESOL programme. In New Zealand it is important that children are able to use and talk about a variety of methods to solve problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. This is based on a strong knowledge of numbers, number patterns and the language to describe these. Again, the students work in small groups to complete practical and written activities, games and discussions based on Number and Algebra, Geometry and Measurement, and Statistics.

수학(한국어)
수 학용어를 배우고, 이해하고, 적용할 수 있도록 도와주는 것 또한 ESOL 수업의 주요 과제입니다. 뉴질랜드에서의 수학 교육은 학생들 ( students)이 더하기, 빼기, 곱하기, 나누기, 비례식에서 어떤 방법으로 답을 구했는지를 말로 설명하는 것을 중점으로 하고 있습니다. ESOL 학생들은 소그룹을 통해 주로 수와 수열을 포함한 수리학에 대해 공부하게 되며, 대수학, 기하학, 측량학,통계학에 대해서도 공부하게됩니다. ESOL 수학 수업은 뉴질랜드 수학 교육과정을 잘 따라 갈 수 있도록 게임, 액티비티, 토론등을 통해 수업을 진행해 나가고 있습니다. 또한 영어로된 수학 용어를 한국어로 이해하는 수업도 진행하고 있습니다.

Term One, 2009 2009년 1분기
Numeracy lessons this term will look at Number. Senior and Middle Students will focus on place value, while Junior children will be working on recognising numbers up to 20. The children will be learning maths language and strategies through games and activities.
이번 분기 수학수업은 저학년은 수를 20까지 읽고 쓰는 것에 중점을 두는 반면에 고학년들은 자리값에 대하여 공부를 할 것입니다. 특히 이 에스 오 엘 수학 수업은 많은 대화를 통해 게임 규칙을 이해하며 문제를 푸는 방법으로 진행됩니다.


Term Four 사분기
This term we are going to continue to build number knowledge and strategies in addition and multiplication. By the end of the topic children will be able to use at least two strategies to get the answer. Children are also focus on developing their maths languages about measurement.
이번 분기엔 덧셈과 곱셈에관한 수에대한 개념을 계속 공부하게 될것입니다. 이번 주제가 끝날 때 쯤이면 적어도 두가지 이상의 방법으로 답을 구하게 될것입니다. 학생들은 또한 측정한 관한 수학용어를 공부하게 될 것입니다.

Term Three 삼분기
This term we focus on developing maths languages in Geometry. Making their own picture using 2dimensional shapes are helping children to reinforce the name and property of 2 dimensional shapes. In the end of this section, children are describing their own picture in front of their group which helps to develop self - confidence to speak English to others.

이번 분기 저희는 기하학에 나오는 용어를 이용하여 영어 문장을 만드는 것을 할 것입니다. 학생들은 여러종류의 2면체 도형을 이용하여 그림을 그릴 것이며그 그림이 어떤 도형들로 구성되었는지 여러 학생들 앞에서 발표를 할 것입니다. 이러한 발표시간을 통해 대중앞에서 영어를 자신 있게 말하는 훈련을 하게 될 것입니다.
